Melainie Routh-Lauderdale

Hi, I'm Melainie

Available August 1st!

I am a therapist (She/Her/Hers) currently practicing under the supervision of Michele Frances Purvin, LCSW-S, LCDC.

Welcome! You are in the right place. I am accepting new clients for in person and telehealth therapy

In our sessions, you can expect honesty, genuine connection, and a space where you don’t have to filter or explain yourself. As a supervised clinician, I regularly consult with experienced professionals to ensure you’re receiving thoughtful, ethical, and well-supported care.

My goal is to walk alongside you as you create meaningful and sustainable change at your own pace.

My Story

I’m originally from Austin, Texas, and I earned my undergraduate degree in psychology from The University of Texas Permian Basin. I also have a Master of Social Work with a focus on mental health and substance misuse from The University of Texas Arlington.

For the last few years, I’ve been working with children, teens, and families at the Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center in San Marcos, Texas. It’s been a real honor to support people through some of the toughest times they’ve ever experienced. I’ve been able to offer crisis intervention, trauma-informed therapy, play therapy, group counseling, and goal-oriented therapy like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I have experience mentoring future social workers, leading crisis intervention and suicide prevention trainings, and always learning and growing as a therapist. I’m also starting my training to become certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy, and I’m excited to start using that approach with clients soon.

I believe that healing happens when people feel safe, understood, and empowered. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all solution. Everyone has their own story, strengths, and experiences, so I’m proud to customize my approach to fit your unique needs. Together, we’ll discover the tools and strategies that work best for you, whether that means working through past trauma, learning new coping skills, managing anxiety related issues like OCD, panic disorder, or general anxiety, building self-confidence, strengthening relationships, or simply finding a moment to breathe and heal.

My approach is built on compassion, curiosity, and the belief that meaningful change is possible, even when it feels like it’s not at first. It is truly an honor and privilege to be invited into your story, and I’m dedicated to creating a therapeutic relationship where you feel heard, valued, and never alone in what you’re going through.

In my free time I enjoy reading, listening to music, and spending time with my amazingly fun kids.
